Roberts Bayou Wedding Weekend

Posted on by Aaron Weiler

Several weeks ago, my sister-in-law asked me to photograph their outdoor wedding on Roberts Bayou in Josephine, Alabama. Since I rarely shoot photos of events and people, that aren’t part of my normal travel and landscape photography, I happily accepted the opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone a little and to help capture their special day.

The gorgeous weather and evening light couldn’t have been more amazing for the family celebration. Although the mix of shady areas, dappled sunlight through the trees, and late night dancing by the fire pit under strings of lights presented their own shooting and editing challenges, everyone (and most importantly the bride) was happy with the final photos.

Quick tip... if your non-professional subjects feel uncomfortable posing, they’ll feel awkward and look uncomfortable in their faces. One of the first shots that I did with the couple to loosen them up and put them at ease was to add their dog to the pose. They were immediately comfortable and the rest of the shots that evening felt loose and fun.

CONGRATULATIONS Caroline and Dennis🥂 (and Taco)
